So, here I go again, talking about my weight. At this point in my life, I am at my heaviest, and I am so getting depressed about it. Indeed, I am fifty, fat, but fabulous (https://myshadesofemerald.com/fifty-fat-but-fabulous/) as stated in one of my blog posts, but honestly, I am also at my unhealthiest state.
In 2012, I was diagnosed with hypertension, anxiety, and panic attack disorder (https://myshadesofemerald.com/get-over-it/), and in 2017, with Atrial Fibrillation (https://myshadesofemerald.com/a-mom-with-afib-atrial-fibrillation/). Although my hypertension, anxiety and panic attack disorder were results of stress, my bad eating habits had not helped my health issues either.

I am fifty(ish), perimenopausal, and a mother of two teenagers. The combination is deadly. I have not been taking care of myself because I take care of others first. I have no ME time at all, and although I get tremendous help from my family, I still have so much on my plate (no pun intended).
No New Year’s Resolution
At the start of this new year, I did not make any promises or resolutions. I believe those resolutions are quickly forgotten. We start making excuses why we can’t keep it and the only decision made is to make the same one next year.
“The only way you will see results is if you stay consistent.
We are almost at the last part of the first quarter of 2019, and what I intend to do has nothing to do with a New Year’s resolution. It only has to do with my own decision to begin a healthier lifestyle. I will start doing more exercises, meditations, and eating healthier meals—more ME time. I need it, and I deserve it.
Since 2012, I gained about 25 pounds, and it has been challenging to lose it. Every year, I decided to drop some or all of it, but end up not doing it at all.
Decision to be Healthier
On February 14th, Valentines Day, I didn’t go out on a date with my husband. Instead, I began my journey to healthier living. I’ve started a regular exercise regimen, ate healthier food, and invited only positive thoughts. It’s only been several (and more) days, and so far, I have lost a fair amount of weight. THAT is an achievement for me.
Losing that fair amount of weight absolutely motivated me and thus, today, I will commit to continuing, and I would like everyone to be a part of my journey to be healthy.
I need to lose 20 to 25 pounds to be healthier. My goal is to lose 1.5 to 2.5 pounds a week. Therefore, if I need to lose 20 to 25 pounds, I should reach my goal in 2-4 months. I will not follow any diet (no Keto, Paleo, Intermittent Fasting, etc.). I will simply stop eating white rice, bread, pasta (the bad carbs). I will eat more chicken, fish, vegetables, and fruits. I will not be consuming sodas or other sugary beverage. Definitely, no sweets.

Move to Be Healthy
I will also continue my workouts which will consist of strengthening exercises, walking, Zumba, and dancing.
I know this will be difficult and will need a lot of patience, self-control, and perseverance. But, I know that I can do it.
Part of My Journey
As I go through this journey to being healthy, I would like to invite you to be a part of it. I will update you with my progress now and then. If you have any comments, opinions, or suggestions, please let me know. I will need all the help, encouragement, and motivation.

My Success is Everyone’s Success
At the end of this journey, I will tell you about my experience, and if successful, I will be more than happy to help everyone in their path to a healthier lifestyle.
And, since you are all part of my journey, my success is everyone’s success as well.
Thank you!
