5-Day Itinerary to London (and some tips to share)

“♪♪♪London Bridge is falling down, falling down…♪♪♪” Fortunately, London Bridge isn’t falling down.  The City of London isn’t falling down.  As a matter of fact, London is bustling, busy and teeming with so many activities, so many places to see and many things to discover.

In the summer of 2017, we vacationed in London for the very first time.  We were there for five full days (actually, 4 full days in London and one full day in Paris, France).  It was a VERY short trip but so worth it.  Since we only had a few days, we had to make sure to follow our itinerary to a T so we can see most of the famous landmarks London is known for.

If you plan to see London, here is a sample of a 5-day itinerary (with some tips, too).

Day 1

London City Tour

  • Before arriving London, we already pre-purchased the Oyster card (the card used in taking the Tube or the Underground).  Along with the Oyster card, we also pre-paid the Hop On-Hop Off Bus Tour.
  • St. Paul’s Cathedral
  • London Eye
  • Big Ben
  • Tower of London
  • Tower Bridge
  • Buckingham Palace

Day 2

Windsor Castle, Lacock, Bath and Stonehenge Tour

  • This is a pre-paid tour.  There are other different tours.  You will need to go to either TripAdvisor or Expedia and choose what kind of tour you want.
  • Windsor Castle
  • Lacock
  • City of Bath
  • Stonehenge

Day 3

Time to see relatives

  • Full day with relatives who live in London. (My mom and stepfather lives in London).

Day 4

Paris Tour (Optional Tour)

  • Full day in Paris, France. (We took the Eurostar from London and pre-paid also for the tour).
  • Eiffel Tower
  • River Seine Sightseeing Tour where you will see the city and some popular sites like the Notre Dame Cathedral and the Musée d’Orsay,
  • The Louvre

Day 5

Souvenir Shopping Time

  • Camden Market where we shopped for souvenirs.

London is a beautiful city. It is so easy to go around using the Tube/Underground.  The people are very friendly and helpful.  However, London could be expensive, too.  Before eating at a restaurant, check out their website or ask your hotel’s concierge or anyone willing to help (believe me, they are nice). We actually went to a mini-mart and bought some bread and sandwich meat.  So, when we do not have time to go to a restaurant, we had food in our hotel room.  This saves us some money, too.

Our very short time in London was amazing.  We will definitely go back and see more of the city.
