Love Isn’t Love ‘Til You Give It Away

“A bell is not a bell ‘til you ring it. A song is not a song ‘til you sing it. Love in your heart isn’t put there to stay. Love isn’t love ‘til you give it away.” – Oscar Hammerstein II I was in 5th grade (back in the ’70s) when I first encountered this poem.  A classmate of mine wrote this in my slum book. I didn’t know what it meant back then.  I even thought that it didn’t make sense. Over the years, however, I found this very meaningful, very touching, and very enlightening.  “A bell is not a bell till you ring it.” Indeed, a bell is…

Things That Beginners Should Know When Creating a Blog or Website

I have wanted to write. I want to write about many things, particularly about family, lifestyle, relationships and more.  However, I did not have a platform to do it.  So, I searched online and found out that I can create my own website or blog where I can showcase my writing.  As I searched online about creating a website/blog, I found many instructional videos or tutorials from many different personalities who swore that it’s easy and simple and can even be monetized. A Mom with AFIB (Atrial Fibrillation)

October 23, 2017, at approximately 1:30 a.m. I woke up with a pounding heart.  So hard that I thought my heart was coming out of my chest. So hard that I could not breathe, my head spinning, and felt like I was having a heart attack.  I was so sure I was having a heart attack. My husband, my children, and my stepdaughter woke up and they thought I was just having my usual panic attack but I told them that this was different.  It felt different. At first, no one was panicking. I told my husband to call 911 and that I felt like I am about to pass…

    Cold Weather Dish

It’s been cold in Los Angeles for the past few weeks.  It even rained for a few days and we are still hoping for more rain to come.  We need it. During these cold days, what better food to have but something hot, delicious, soothing, and comforting. Something everyone loves and enjoy slurping while piping hot. At our home, cold and rainy days call for a bowl (or 2 or 3) of the Mexican dish, POZOLE! My family loves Pozole, particularly Chicken Pozole Rojo (Red Chicken Pozole).  It is easy to make. Simply boil the chicken (my version does not need sauteeing) with some powdered seasonings, shred, and put all…

    GET OVER IT!

“Get over it.” “Snap out of it.” “Go on a vacation.” “Don’t worry too much.” These are words I often heard from those around me. I heard it from almost everyone; my friends, relatives, and even closest confidantes. Believe me, if it was that simple, I’d just “snap out of it” – in a second! But, life with anxiety and panic attack disorder has made my life a little bit more complicated than it already is. In My Twenties Starting in my mid-twenties, I have had several occasions where I was taken to the emergency room for some kind of an “episode,” an “attack,” or a “seizure-like” condition. The common…
